Found! The Best Self-Tanning Formulas to Shop Now

There’s a million reasons why I choose to  tan using sunless tanning solutions, but the one that trumps them all is saving my skin from potential sun damage. I’ve dabbled in self-tanning for years, going through all the god-awful results of orange formulas and eye-catching, cringe worthy streaks. In high school my girlfriends and I would spray one another with a tanning gun in the garage before dances. So when I say I’ve found some of the best formulas on the market, I’d like to think I have a bit of knowledge with the product!

First off, tanning formulas have improved immensely since they first came on the market and most brands now offer believable results and have ditched the red-solution that so often made you look like one of Willy Wonka’s oompa-loompa minions. The application process is all about personal preference, but for me I always use the glove/mitt and foam solutions.

Instant Sun

Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun  $11.99

This tanner by Jergens has been on the market for some time now and has only continued to get better! The formula is quick drying and is tinted for a seamless application. The product does set pretty quickly so you'll need to apply when you have time - i.e. no rushing! Another great perk about this product is the price point, at just under $12 its a major steal, and readily available! Looking for a longer review? I posted about this product a few years ago here

Slow Glow Gradual Tanner

First Aid Beauty Slow Glow Gradual Self-Tanning $17

I used this all summer last year! Living in San Francisco means not a whole lot of time in the sun. This is a very gradual tanner and is best suited for those looking for a natural glow vs. a dark tan. As with any tinted moisturizer a lot of product can cause streaks, so be aware when applying to legs and arms. I more than often just applied this to my legs.

Self Tanning Foam

Bondi Sands Dark Tanning Foam $24

This is one of the newest products I tried and I really don't have enough good things to say about it! This is better suited for someone who is used to applying sunless tanner or comfortable using a mitt and foam application. The product is dark, but rather than give off an obvious orange-hue, it compliments a base-tan for a rich, back from the beach tan. The scent of this product is enough to make the switch, and is tropical, which is MUCH better than smelling like tanbark or dust.

St. Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse Review via. www.birdieshoots.com

Instant Tanning Mousse

St. Moriz Dark Instant Tanning Mousse $6.50

If you're looking to get the best bang for your buck than look no further than this tanning solution by St. Moriz. This has been one of my favorite products thanks to its olive-tint and visible application. This is another product that'll need a mitt application but, the results are incredible and long lasting.
