The Importance of Taking Time off

January has easily been one of the most stressful and busy months that I've experienced in a very long time! Between wedding planning, blogging, and 2-jobs things have felt non-stop. Not to mention being gone on the weekends for trips we'd planned well before. I hate complaining and typically reserve my stresses to myself, figuring that I can work them out on my own or through a bit of tough exercise but, what I didn't take into account is how much social media can add to one's stress level.

As a blogger, social media is part of my day-to-day. I wake up, prep content interact with my audience, and also made a part to also check out my friends and fellow-bloggers accounts. The whole thing can sound fun, and technically speaking easy. But, what I can tell is it is NOT. Juggling a blog and social media is taxing, and I'm sure any other blogger can attest to that. I've talked with other friends from my local circle of blog friends and keep hearing how importantly taking time off is.

Taking time away from the screen is not only important, it's essential to maintaining a balance between personal and business. This past weekend I finally took the time to literally "disconnect", I spent the weekend with friends, enjoying time away and not feeling strapped or attached to my phone. I can't begin to tell you how amazing it was to not feel to need to snap, post or like. Being in the moment really allows you to reset your mind, and focus on the things that are important to you.

I know this post is a bit of a departure, but I felt it essential and worthy of sharing. I'm curious to know if any of also take the occasional digital detox?

xoxo,

Birdie
