Nine Ways to Start Fresh This Spring

With more time at-home this spring season, many of us (including myself) are looking for ways to occupy our time. Rather than spent a countless amount of time scrolling through social media or watching Friends reruns, why not dust off your to-do list? Springtime projects can range from outdoor gardening to dusting off an indoor organizational plan that’s long overdue. While it may not be the most appealing thing to do, it can make a world of difference when it comes to your outlook and feeling of accomplishment. Here are eight ways you can make a fresh start this spring.


Set a Daily Schedule

We could all use a little more structure in our day! The best piece of advice I was given about working from home was to set a schedule and stick to it. First thing in the morning, kick off your day with your routine, whether it be coffee, working out, or even just making the bed. Getting dressed and ready will aid in your overall productivity and outlook on your daily goals. Another weekly routine I like to set before the start of the workweek is creating a meal plan. Doing so takes the guesswork out of night meals and keeps you ahead of what ingredients may be needed.



Give Everything a Good Spring Clean

Spring cleaning is more than just organizing; it’s actual cleaning. Whether this means giving the stovetop a good scrub or tackling your window cleaning with Mrs. Meyer’s makes all the difference. Get Outdoors! Plant A Herb Box for Late Spring and Summer

Most of us have our go-to herbs when we grocery shop, ours happen to be cilantro, basil, and chive. More than often, I end up purchasing a bundle at the store only to end up tossing half when it goes bad. Planting a small herb box will not only be convenient when it comes to mealtime prep, but it will also cut down on wastefulness. Eliminating excess food waste is one thing we as a family are trying to be more cautious about, and only using what we eat will go a long way.


Start a Capsule Wardrobe

Capsule wardrobes are a great way to get back to the basics and see what you genuinely wear in your wardrobe. There are a TON of great resources online to guide you in creating your capsule utilizing pieces you already have in your closet. The great thing about embracing this kind of downsizing is that you’ll find yourself styling outfits you may not have thought of before. This is also a great way to tackle excess clutter or rid your closet of items you no longer need.


Make Time For Family Fun

With so much time at home, it can be hard to set boundaries for work. It’s good for the whole family to take a break from school or work duties and have a little fun, whether for a game night or a creative break, try to incorporate some daily activities to make the most out of your time with one another. 

Revisit a Forgotten Hobby

I think its safe to say that most of us have a few hobbies that we haven’t participated in awhile. To exercise your creativity, try picking up a forgotten hobby. Whether you prefer the arts and want to watercolor or learn a new recipe; or, woodworking or sewing now is the perfect time to flex your artistic muscles. 


Organize The Pantry

We’ve all seen the beautiful pantry spaces on Pinterest. Perfectly organized, labeled, and sorted, but almost too perfect, especially for a family with little ones! Tackling an organization project takes time and the willingness to stick it out even if it winds up taking up a better part of the day. Organizing your pantry or where you store food will give you insight into what your family needs and eats most daily. Getting this perspective allows you to make smarter decisions when grocery shopping. Another benefit to organizing is that you’re more likely to put things away in the same spot to keep things visually satisfying.


Kickstart a New Workout Routine

Someone once told me that starting a routine takes at LEAST 21-days, well, there isn’t any time like the present! Workouts don’t need to be grueling 3-hour sessions! They can be quick and relatively painless while helping you ease into something new. Everything from yoga to kickboxing and meditation can be done from the comfort of your home. Kickstarting a new workout routine will get easier once it becomes apart of your routine! If all else fails, a run outside can also be the perfect solution to pushing endorphins. 


Adopt a New Mantra

Getting into a new state of mind can feel like an impossible task, especially given current situations. Making a conscious effort to change your mindset and adopt a new mantra could mean a world of difference in how you approach different situations. It could be a small change or something you’d been looking to evolve from for a while now. A fresh outlook is always helpful and can help provide clarity in everyday situations.
