Marbled Holiday Ornament DIY

One of my favorite things about the holidays is creating things around the season. It’s one of the only times during the year that I set aside time to set out to the store and jump into countless holiday crafts. This holiday ornament DIY was one that I remember doing with friends years ago, in elementary school. It’s such as easy holiday craft! So much so that even small kids and toddlers can also partake.

With just a few items needed for this DIY project, it’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit without embarking on a project that takes weeks or days to complete. So keep reading to see how to create these marbled holiday ornaments! Marble Holiday Ornament Tutorial
What you Will need

As I previously mentioned, you’ll only need a handful of items to complete this DIY project. The things below are what I used for my marble ornaments seen here. Feel free to use different paint colors, spray paint, or styles or ornaments.

Clear Glass or Plastic Ornaments (any style)
Acrylic Paint(s)
Spray Paint (metallic)

Marble Ornament Tutorial

The easiest way to prepare for this DIY project is to set up a station where all the paint containers are open and ready to pour. Then, have a “dry” station set-up for wet bulbs, either set them upside down or right side up. I used the container the glass ornaments came in, which worked perfectly.

Create a crafting area and put a sheet of paper down to protect your workspace or table.
Shake all paint containers and open them for easy pouring.
Remove the tops from ornaments are set aside.
Gather paints and pour them into the opening of the ornament. Alternating colors until there is about 1/2 Tbsp of paint.
Carefully place your finger over the opening of the ornament and shake vigorously until no clear glass is showing in your ornament.
*If you are doing this activity with small children, you can have your child roll their ornament to achieve this full coverage without shaking.
Set aside to dry.

If you’d like to take this DIY one step further and spray the tops of the ornaments, follow the following steps:

Gather the metal tops of the ornaments
Using a string and a wooden dowel, string the metal tops and place them along the top of an open cardboard box.
Use 2-3 coats of spray paint and let dry thoroughly until placing back on the ornament bulbs.

A key tips to this tutorial, be sure to let paint dry completely before decorating. If the paint is not dry, mold can grow in the wet paint.
