5 Floral Finds to Welcome Spring

Happy Spring! Thanks to Wikibuy for partnering with me on this post! As always all opinions are 100% my own and reflect my shopping experience.

Nothing says Springtime better than a floral print (groundbreaking right?). A few weeks ago I shared this 70s-style floral maxi dress from Free People and had a ton of questions about how to style or better yet where to wear it! Normally during the week, you can find me in denim, cotton tees, and sweaters. However, the weekends are another story…

For me, weekend wear is all about fun prints and accessories, which is when so many of my great printed pieces come out to play. Since I do most of my shopping online I tend to purchase a few different styles and try them on for fit, since we know things can tend to look different in-person. During my latest Spring shopping experience, I used Wikibuy, an online directory of shopping destinations geared at finding you the best deals and savings from across the web. The site even happened to have a secret deal for Macy's that saved me 30% on this dress!

My best advice for dressing in floral is to go by scale. My personal preference is normally suited for smaller, daintier prints over larger floral designs. A general tip; wearing larger prints can often give the appearance that you are wider than you actually are. Larger prints draw attention to these areas, which ends up being a lose-lose unless that's what you’re trying to achieve.

Maxi & Midi Dresses

When I first saw this dress, I absolutely loved it, but then was reminded of a not so flattering Kim K couch moment (see what I’m talking about). I wasn’t sure if the proportions of the dress would give the tent effect, but I was pleasantly surprised that the bodice did synch a bit at the waist. If you’re concerned that you’ll be swallowed by an A-line maxi or a straight silhouette, why not belt it? One of my favorite tricks to creating a waistline is to add a wide belt. This gives off a flattering hourglass appearance, even if you have a straight or narrow frame!

Two-Piece Sets

Coordinated sets will be huge this season, and I have to say, I couldn't be happier! These give the illusion of a romper without the struggle of finding a fit that actually works. Most women would agree that using the restroom when wearing a romper is NOT the business!

Off the Shoulder Blouses

This style definitely favors the bohemian style enthusiast, which definitely falls into my preference. I love how chic this style looks when paired with a denim cut-off or with a pair of skinny jeans. Off-the-shoulder blouses are flattering on most if not all figures, the key is to find a silhouette that pairs well with your body type. For smaller-chested women, I would suggest styles that are synched in front or gather fabric. For those with a fuller-chest opt for styles that have a draped bodice or billowy sleeves.

The Kimono

This has to be one of my favorite trends of the season! I absolutely love the look of a long semi-sheer kimono! The style definitely isn't for everyone, but if you tend to gravitate towards casual 70s styles then give this floral find a go. You can pair this with everything from a pair of boyfriend jeans to a slinky summer dress. Better yet, wear this over a swimsuit the next time you're lounging by the pool!

Floral Adorned Denim

During most days of the week you can find me in denim! So it's no surprise that this floral embroidered denim is a must-have. I like this floral when done with boyfriend or straight leg denim.
